Research:
Dr. Vered Ne'eman-Haviv is a researcher whose expertise spans the domains of morality and deviance, with a multifaceted approach to criminology. Her extensive research portfolio encompasses various criminological areas, including the misuse of drugs and prescription medications within normative populations. Over the years, she has conducted comprehensive studies on topics such as the misuse of cannabis and Ritalin among students, substance use among parents and its impact on children's perceptions, steroid use among athletes, and alcohol consumption among the elderly in Israel.
Another prominent focus of her research is domestic violence, particularly with an emphasis on honor killings within Arab society in Israel. Dr. Ne'eman-Haviv's work delves into the evolving trends in Israel and worldwide concerning honor killings, tracing the shifts in attitudes toward honor killings and the association between these attitudes and the introduction of modern Western values into traditionally conservative societies.
In addition, her studies examine at-risk religious youth's distinctive characteristics and needs. Interventions with this demographic group necessitate specialized programs tailored to their unique social, religious, and spiritual perspectives. Dr. Ne'eman-Haviv's studies unveil religious youth's specific needs and facilitate the development of interventions essential to foster positive development within this population.
